Champagne

A busy week at the studio- The Millinery Essentials students on Monday evenings are steaming away on their hats and progressing very well. Lots of interesting shapes and ideas happening .
Tuesday evening Making Soft Furnishings students are deciding on their major project for the next four weeks. Have made some gorgeous shoe flowers for this week. Thursday evening was a fun evening promoting our Enchanted Hats and High Tea at the New South Wales Race Horse Owners Cocktail party. See photos of Kelly and Harry sporting Embellish atelier hats. Sharon standing behind her display of hats and a sample of some Embellish atelier hats as well. Sunday at the Stables with Gai proved another winner on Sunday . John and I purchased this at the last Posh Ball raising funds for The Cancer Council. Maggie, Susie, Janice , and I were treated to a parade of Race Horses at Tulloch Lodge stables . We were then invited in for Champagne and an opportunity to meet with the owners in the T.J. Smith Room . Gorgeous rooms with the walls covered in racing memorabilia and fabulous coordinating soft furnishings in the racing colours .Maggie then took us to her favourite Indian restaurant for a quick Masala Dosi while discussing if our funds could stretch to buying a share in one of the syndicates going for a chestnut colt out of Jet Spur by Belvedere. We are off to see Alice in Wonderland on Wednesday evening - for some more enchantment and to raise funds for I-India project. - more enchantment .

Today in the Embellish atelier studio

Embellish has the studio in chaos - Today I have been working on 2 pieces - a beautiful flower from a luscious piece of silk and a classy little headpiece for a mother of the bride from steel grey lace piece. Am dreaming up some flowers I will make from some faux patent leather I picked up . There are still a couple of winter hats from my new collection underway and I continue to add and subtract ideas for the trims . Orders all underway - blocked and waiting to be trimmed. The colours of the felts are so delicious . I taught Making soft furnishing class tonight . Everyone finished off cushion covers and mastered zippers tonight and I demonstrated lampshade making. Such fun - really an excuse to make a hat for a lamp. Last night was week 4 my Millinery Essentials class at Sydney Community College . Everyone busy steaming and shaping their felts and finishing off the little headpieces they started. Very inspiring and productive . Some surprised at how long it takes to get it right - I love that students learn the whole process of couture millinery and really understand what is involved.

Off to International Womens Day Breakfast at Monte Sant Angelo in the morning - Tess has her speech all prepared .
Just learning to upload photos so have included a few of my recent hats - glamorous and fun -

Good night .
